A Bellow of My Laughter Pt. I
A Bellow of My Laughter Pt. I + II explores the spirit and performance of object with sound. This transmogrified vessel, inhabiting both land and human-like qualities, takes its skin from the bottom of a petri dish, a reference toward the scientific racism that helped shape the myth of Black inferiority. The cavity openings mimic singing mouths as the sound of an ambiguous cry, or laugh, belts out from each one. The obscurity between both auditory expressions yields a curious and mortified reaction implicating the viewer while lending a sense of hapticality–a capacity to feel through others.
